About CocktailSteps
Technique first. Every recipe stays measured.
CocktailSteps is a recipe and guided-making service operated by LUQ Labs in California, United States. We help adults of legal drinking age move from the bottles they have to a drink they can make with exact amounts and clear visual steps.
What we publish.
Each published recipe combines exact ingredient measurements, tool and glassware guidance, ordered instructions, timing, an approximate ABV, responsible-drinking context, and a short visual path through the technique. The Explore index and shelf matcher use this fixed recipe collection rather than generating new drinks on demand.
Classic recipe facts belong to the shared record of bartending. The explanatory writing, content arrangement, interactive steps, and owned or licensed visual assets that present those facts are prepared specifically for CocktailSteps.
The authored recipe is the source of truth.
AI has a narrow supporting role: it can identify possible shelf items, rank recipes from the authored collection, or offer contextual substitution and technique notes. A visitor confirms shelf results, and AI advice does not rewrite, add, remove, or reorder the published recipe steps.
AI can be incomplete or wrong. When a suggestion conflicts with a measured recipe, follow the authored recipe and use your judgment.
How we review the work.
Before publication, we review recipe measurements, ingredient and tool references, step order, visual alignment, and the behavior of the guided-making experience. Bottle prices are informational estimates; the review date appears beside the guide, and local price and availability will vary.
Some instructional images and short demonstrations are made with AI-assisted creative tools from human-authored briefs. We manually review those assets for the intended ingredient, tool, stage, and action alignment before publication. The authored recipe remains the source of truth when a visual is incomplete or unclear. These illustrations are not photographs or recordings of a physical tasting session.
We correct material errors and update content when a recipe, visual, service, or safety note changes. If something needs a closer look, please send the page URL and the specific issue through our Contact page.
Who edits the recipes.
CocktailSteps Editorial Team is the public byline for this collection. On September 6, 2026, we revised the collection's measurement guidance, technique explanations, substitutions, and troubleshooting. The displayed content review date identifies that editorial revision; it is not a tasting date.
We do not publish physical tasting records or claim that every recipe has passed a practical tasting test. Our review checks the written recipe and its presentation for consistency. Brands, citrus, ice, equipment, and temperature can change the finished drink.
We use an organization-level byline rather than publishing individual team member names. LUQ Labs remains accountable for the editorial process, corrections, and the service itself. We do not claim unnamed bartender credentials or present AI output as personal experience.
References and house adaptations.
Recipe pages link to primary references where available, including the International Bartenders Association and the makers of named ingredients. Those references provide context for a drink's established proportions and method. Our technique notes explain where the CocktailSteps version uses a house adaptation, such as different proportions or a more accessible ingredient.
A reference does not imply endorsement or that our version is identical to it. Use the ingredient amounts and steps on the recipe page together, and read the adaptation note before substituting.
Alcohol information, not alcohol sales.
CocktailSteps is intended for people who have reached the legal drinking age where they live. We do not sell, deliver, or arrange the sale of alcohol, and we do not use affiliate purchase links for alcoholic products. Bottle guidance is educational and does not endorse a retailer or encourage additional consumption.
Not drinking is always a valid choice. A zero-proof recipe remains available without age confirmation, and our Responsible Drinking guidance applies throughout the service.
